When you bring up bass fishing, most people aren't thinking of their rigs. Other types of artificial lures pop up in my head when it comes to top water fishing. While all of these things should come to mind when you think about bass fishing, bass fishing rigs should come to mind as well.
I use a pair of Curados as my primary bass fishing rigs and absolutely love them. If you want these to really perform well, try this: Tighten the drag. Have the weights out. You will get fantastic results. If I loosen the drag enough that the line automatically feeds out slowly, I will get a birdnest every once in a while and it works the same with lures from 1/8 - 1/2 oz.
Here you will see some of the best bass fishing rigs on the market.
When you are bass fishing it is best to use the gang hook rig when you want to use live bait.
The second rig, called the casting bubble rig, is a way for spin fishermen to fish with an artificial fly in a very effective manner.
When you put the artificial worm higher on the line then you call it the Carolina rig. With other lures such as crankbaits the Carolina jig can also be very effective. This is one of the most popular rigs, as it keeps your lure from settling to the bottom.
The Texas Rig was the first plastic bait rig used by anglers when bass fishing really got started more than 25 years ago. It has produced more bass catches than any other artificial bait and it's a simple right to set up. A good way to fish for both large and small mouth bass is the Texas Rig. Have you ever tried a Texas rig? You get a plastic bait that is soft, put a small weight above it, put a hook inside the worm's head and then put it into the bait. This rig makes for less weeding and for better bass catches. The line is simply threaded through the bullet weight to allow the weight to slide freely up and down the line.
The Texas Rig and the Carolina Rig are fished in much the same way. The Texas Rig is more simple than the Carolina Rig but is no less effective when used in the right conditions. The Carolina Rig is really just a fancy way of saying a plastic worm tied between 12 inches and 24 inches down the line from the weight. The Texas Rig is almost as complex as the Carolina rig.
Which of these rigs is best for your conditions? The truth is most likely all of them and none of them. Whether you are a beginner or a pro fisherman you are sure to know that not all fish are the same and they won't always tae the same bait.
There is a fine line when a hobby becomes obsession. If you are spending more on bass fishing rigs every year than you're on buying presents for your loved ones birthdays and Christmas then you should consider if you're obsessed rather than simply enjoying going fishing.
There you have all you need to get started with some of the most common and proven bass fishing rigs. Soon I will post more bass fishing tips, so come back soon! Try them out and see which one works best for you.
